P7 are delighted to share the fact that we are now Koala protectors! The P7s chose to donate funds from previous Community Cafes to the Word Wildlife Fund to help save the Koalas after the devastating Australian bush fires.

We love our certificates!

They have also worked super hard on their homework this week, each creating a double page spread to try and persuade people to donate to those helping the Australian communities.

Following on from our school trip to Abriachan on Monday the P6s and P7s worked collaboratively this afternoon to begin the planning of our Drakies Woodland!

First we looked at some arial photos of the school grounds and found out the direction of North so that our maps were correctly orientated.

We then used the planting planner tool to experiment by planting virtual trees using the dimensions of our development area.

The P6s and P7s got creative adding in fire pits and dens to their designs 🔥

We had to check that there was enough room for the trees to grow!

We’ve decided to run this as a competition, with Mr Callander & Mr Mackenzie kindly judging the designs and choosing 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. We will use the chosen designs to begin the development of the woodland area!

After that we got to pick some spruces to take back to school to plant. We even thought about decorating a few for our classroom during the festive season 🎅🏽

We talked about the animals that live in the area and had a go at making our own bug hotels 🐜

It was very cold and wet so we got to toast some apples 🍎 and play in the park/tree house to finish off a brilliant day!

We can’t wait to take all of our new ideas back to school!
